2018 Kia Sorento GT Line Tries To Look Sporty In Frankfurt
The Sorento was one of the few models sold by Kia in Europe without a GT Line specification and now is putting on its sporty attire on the occasion of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
It looks a tad bit more aggressive than the other trim levels available for the seven-seat SUV and features those LED four-point fog lights. Looking at the sides of the Sorento, you will probably notice the bigger sill step and red brake calipers further denoting it’s not a run-of-the-mill Sportage. At the back, dual exhaust tips are part of the deal for the diesel-powered model, while a “GT Line” badge has been slapped onto the trunk lid.
The interior features the same improvements made by Kia for the regular 2018 Sorento in Europe, which now comes with a new steering wheel, an updated driver instrument cluster, and a new display for the climate control settings. In addition, the latest-generation eight-inch infotainment is now featured across the range. For audiophiles, an optional Harman Kardon sound system packs 10 speakers for 640 watts of power.
The GT Line version stands out from the other thanks to quilted seats covered in black leather and adorned with contrasting grey stitching. The “GT Line” logo has been embroidered onto the seats for extra effect. Rounding off the tweaks are the satin chrome accents and model-exclusive gear shift paddles.
Go for the turbodiesel 2.2-liter engine and it now can be optionally hooked up to a new eight-speed automatic transmission promising to deliver better fuel economy as well as quicker and smoother gear changes. It replaces the previous seven-speed ‘box and provides the driver with four selectable modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Smart.
