Bentley Bentayga spotted with diesel engine

Not only is the Bentayga the very first SUV from Bentley, but it’s also about to become the first model ever from Crewe to receive a diesel engine. A lead engineer confirmed the company’s plans to introduce a diesel-powered Bentayga, mentioning it will have the same powertrain as the Audi SQ7 TDI.

 

The spy photos come to confirm the ultra-posh SUV is about to receive the TDI treatment, likely to happen at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in October. We checked the prototype’s license plate in the database of U.K.’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DLVA) and discovered the vehicle was equipped with an engine featuring a displacement of 3,956 cc. It’s clearly the 4.0-liter TDI V8 of the aforementioned SQ7 TDI.

 

From what we are seeing so far, the diesel Bentayga is going to look virtually the same as its gasoline-powered sibling, with the only exception being the different shape of the exhaust tips. In the Audi, the beefy engine with its electric powered compressor pushes out a monstrous 435 horsepower (320 kilowatts) and 663 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque. It’s unclear at this point whether the output numbers will increase for the Bentayga, but it would make sense given the model’s significantly higher price tag.
