Kia details refreshed 2017 Forte

Kia has announced more details of its refreshed 2017 Forte, due to arrive in showrooms in the near future.

 

The sedan has received a new 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine, replacing the existing 1.8-liter four. Output specs remain mostly unchanged despite a promise of improved performance, shifting to 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. The figures represent a drop of one horsepower and gain of a single lb-ft of twist.

 

Base models ship with a six-speed manual gearbox, while a second-generation six-speed automatic provides better fuel efficiency. The latter transmission boasts a city/highway rating of 29/38 mpg, resulting in a combined 32 mpg.

 

The Forte has also received a new front bumper, shifting the fog lights inward, while reshaped headlights flank Kia's "tiger nose" grille. HID lamps and LED taillights are now listed as available options.

 

Pricing details will likely be announced closer to launch.
