2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport unveiled with 200 hp & manual gearbox

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2017 Elantra Sport.

 

Billed as the most powerful Elantra ever created, the model is distinguished by a sportier front bumper with new LED fog lights and a black grille surround. The car has also been equipped with revised side skirts, a new rear bumper, and a small rear diffuser. A closer inspection reveals a dual exhaust system and special alloy wheels.

 

The unique styling continues in the cabin as designers added a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sports seats, and red contrast stitching. The car also has faux carbon fiber trim and embossed "Sport" logos on the seatbacks.

 

A turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine resides under the hood and produces more than 200 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters.

 

Besides featuring a more powerful engine, the Elantra Sport has been equipped with an independent multi-link rear suspension which promises to provide a more engaging driving experience.

 

The Hyundai Elantra Sport is scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year and additional information will be released to launch.
