Volkswagen Passat midsize sedan earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
On sale now at Volkswagen dealerships, the 2017 Passat received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.
Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, electronic stability control and a rearview camera.
Forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking are now standard across all trims.
A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is now standard on R-Line and SE models.
