Aston Martin's Vanquish could be due for a significant power upgrade in the next few years.
The next-generation flagship coupe is expected to borrow the DB11's new twin-turbocharged V12 engine, but with a much more powerful tune, according to Auto Express.
The second-generation Vanquish currently delivers 567 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque from its 5.9-liter naturally-aspirated V12. It will soon be overshadowed by the DB11's V12, which is Aston's most powerful engine yet with 600 ponies on tap.
Chief powertrain engineer Brian Fitzsimmons is said to have confirmed that the DB11 powerplant has been 'proven' capable of reaching 820 horsepower.
The latest report speculates that engineers will tune the 5.2-liter mill to deliver at least 730 horsepower for the third-generation Vanquish, potentially approaching output specs of the Ferrari F12 tdf.
The redesigned Vanquish will be among seven new Aston Martin models to arrive in the next seven years.
