The Smart ForTwo Cabrio is now available with a new five-speed manual transmission in Europe.

 

Set to be offered alongside the familiar twinamic dual-clutch gearbox, the five-speed manual is currently available to order and models equipped with the transmission are scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the middle of July.

 

Despite being positioned as an entry-level alternative, models equipped with the manual transmission boast a decent amount of standard equipment including cruise control, power windows / locks, and a power soft top. The convertible also has LED daytime running lights, an immobilizer, and an exterior temperature display.

 

Under the hood, two different engines are available. The entry-level 999cc three-cylinder produces 71 horsepower and 67 pound-feet of torque. Unsurprisingly, the model is a bit slow as the dash from 0-62 miles per hour takes 14.9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 93 mph.

 

Buyers looking for something more powerful can opt for the turbocharged 898cc three-cylinder engine which cranks out 90 hp and 99 lb-ft of torque. The extra power enables the convertible to run from 0-62 mph in 10.8 seconds before topping out at 96 mph.

 

Pricing starts at €14,305 in Germany including a 19% value added tax.
