Skoda Kodiaq makes spy photo debut
Last time we discussed Skoda’s first large SUV, the Czech company confirmed it will carry the Kodiaq name once it goes on sale in early 2017. Now we have several spy photos that reveal the manufacturer is working hard to get the job on the vehicle done before the Paris Motor Show this fall, where we’ll see it for the first time.

In fact, back in April Skoda provided a first glimpse at the Kodiaq during a special event in the brand’s museum in Prague, organized to celebrate 25 years of cooperation with Volkswagen. Interestingly, now the vehicle is hidden under heavy camouflage and these first spy shots are not revealing much.

Still, we can see it has roughly the same size as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Seat Ateca, which are created on the same platform. This is the flexible MQB platform of the VW Group that also underpins numerous other vehicles from VW, Skoda, Seat, and Audi.

We have reasons to believe the engine range will be shared with the Tiguan and Ateca, which means you can expect a rich petrol and diesel lineup with power ranging from 113 horsepower (83 kilowatts) to around 187 hp (138 kW). Power will be channeled to the front wheels as standard, while some of the punchier engines will be available at an additional cost with an optional 4x4 setup. As a product of VW Group, the Kodiaq will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
