BMW M3 turns 30, introduces 30 Years M3 to celebrate

BMW is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the M3 by introducing the new 30 Years M3.

 

Set to go on sale this summer, the limited edition model is available exclusively in Macao Blue metallic paint which originally debuted as an optional color on the first-generation M3. The car has also been equipped with high gloss shadow line trim, black chrome exhaust tips, “30 Years M3” badging, and 20-inch forged lightweight alloy wheels.

 

The unique styling continues in the cabin as designers installed two-tone Merino leather sport seats with “30 Years M3” embroidery on the headrests. Drivers will also find special sill plates, an individually numbered carbon fiber trim strip, and seatbelts with woven-in BMW M stripes.

 

Since the car comes standard with the Competition Package, power is provided by an upgraded 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that produces 450 horsepower. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed M double clutch gearbox. With the latter transmission, the car accelerates from 0-62 miles per hour in just 4.0 seconds.

 

Speaking of performance, the 30 Years M3 comes standard with an Adaptive M suspension and an Active M differential.

 

Production will be limited to 500 units and the model will carry a hefty €10,000 ($11,115) premium over a traditional M3 equipped with the Competition Package.
