Nissan Navara based SUV spied for the first time

Rumors about a Nissan Navara based sport utility vehicle have been swirling for years but spy photographers have recently snapped the first photos of the upcoming model.

 

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the SUV is based on the Navara NP300 and features a familiar front fascia with a prominent grille that is flanked by sweptback headlights. Additional styling details are hard to make out but the model has a relatively flat roof and rear door handles that appear to be hidden in the C-pillar. We can also see vertical taillights and a large rear window.

 

The interior is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Navara but the SUV is expected to be offered in both five and seven seat configurations.

 

Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices could include a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol that produces 163 horsepower. There should also be a handful of diesel-powered variants including a 2.3-liter turbodiesel that produces 160 hp and 297 lb-ft of torque. Buyers looking for something more powerful will likely be able to order a biturbo 2.3-liter diesel engine that cranks out 187 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

 

Nissan has been tight-lipped about the SUV but speculation suggests it could replace the Patrol in certain markets. Rumors also indicate the model could be launched sometime next year.
