Volkswagen is adding a new range-topping trim level to the Touareg lineup in the United Kingdom. The R-Line Plus, the highest specification for the model yet, is already available to order at ￡48,095.

 

The biggest visual improvement for the five-seat SUV is the addition of 21-inch alloy wheels with Mallory design, replacing the 20-inch wheels of the R-Line trim. But what’s more important, drivers will benefit from the Area View system that uses front, rear, and side wide-angle cameras, providing a 360-degree bird’s-eye exterior view of the car that is displayed on the infotainment system’s display.

 

Step inside the cabin and you will find Piano Black finish for the center console, dash, and air vent surrounds, while the seats are covered with Vienna leather upholstery. Speaking of the seats, the front ones are 14-way electronically adjustable with four-way adjustable head restraints.

 

Volkswagen explains the extra equipment has a value of ￡3,255 if specified separately, but the premium over the Touareg R-Line is a mere ￡1,160.

 

As far as the engines are concerned, the SUV will be offered with two diesel units, both featuring a 3.0-liter displacement. Whether customers take the 204-horsepower (150 kilowatts) or 262-hp (194 kW) version, the motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
