Jeep recalling 37k+ Grand Cherokees over shift interlock problem

Jeep has announced plans to recall 37,372 Grand Cherokees over a potentially faulty wiring harness terminal.

 

According to the automaker, the wiring harness terminal could lose its electrical connection. This could cause the vehicle's transmission to become stuck in Park or Neutral after the vehicle is brought to a halt.

 

Following an internal investigation, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles determined that some wiring harness may have been incorrectly crimped.

 

No accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of the problem but FCA is recalling 37,372 models out of an abundance of caution. The recall affects a handful of 2016 Grand Cherokee models and 32,267 of them are located in the United States. The company is also recalling 2,095 vehicles in Canada, 538 in Mexico, and 2,472 outside of North America.
