VW Polo-based crossover gets rendered

Volkswagen recently began testing a mule for the upcoming Polo-based crossover so Jan Kamenistiak has decided to make a rendering of what the model could look like.

 

Drawing inspiration from the T-Cross Breeze concept which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the rendering shows a stylish looking crossover with a prominent grille and slender LED headlights. The model also has plastic body cladding, chrome accents, and attractive alloy wheels. Other notable highlights include a sculpted hood, muscular character lines, and a gently sloping roof.

 

The model is slated to be introduced in 2018 and will ride on the MQB platform that underpins everything from the Golf to the Euro-spec Passat.

 

Engine options remain a mystery but the T-Cross Breeze concept had a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder that produced 110 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. It was connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enabled the front-wheel drive model to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in 10.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 117 mph.

 

The production model will likely be offered with a couple different engines but it remains unclear whether or not customers can expect an optional all-wheel drive system.
